Orgasmic way to improve pelvic floor muscles

PUBLISHED: August 12th, 2009 By Sue

Few of us give our pelvic floor muscles much thought, except perhaps when waiting in the queue at the supermarket or when they no longer work as they should.

The pelvic floor holds up the bottom of the uterus as well as the muscles for the bladder and anus – they’re the muscles you squeeze to control the flow of pee. Connective tissue impairment, labour, sustained physical over-exertion, pelvic injury, or a pelvic operation can weaken the pelvic floor muscles, which can lead to incontinence.

Do you find you need to constantly go to the toilet, can no longer jump on a trampoline or wet your pants when you sneeze, cough or laugh? Have you had children or noticed a deterioration in your pelvic floor muscles as you age?

Well here’s a new product, hilariously called Fun Factory Smartballs.

D.VICE’s Ema Lyon says that Smartballs are designed to strengthen women’s pelvic floor by providing targeted exercise of the core muscles.

“They are ideal before pregnancy, after childbirth and for women later in life facing weak bladder issues.

“In Germany, where they are manufactured, the Midwives Association recommends them for all mothers from six weeks after giving birth.

Exercising your pelvic floor muscles before pregnancy can also help ensure that the vaginal opening and muscles relax more easily and are less likely to tear during child birth.

“The fact is they are a discreet and really easy way for women to strengthen their pelvic floor muscles, and particularly, for those facing embarrassing issues relating to weak pelvic floor to remedy the situation,” says Ema Lyon.

“And they have the added benefit of enhancing orgasmic response.”

A modern take on the ancient Ben Wah Balls, which were used in China by women to keep their pelvic floor muscles toned through regular exercise, Smartballs are inserted into the vagina and work due to the gentle (and quiet!) movement and vibration of the internal metal balls inside the medical-grade elastomed spheres.

Ema Lyon says that Smartballs make it fun and easy to stimulate the pelvic floor. Just add lubricant (an essential for comfortable use), pop in your Smartballs and your inner workout begins.

“Just everyday movements – walking, running, doing the vacuuming – are enough to change the point of gravity in the balls and get the inner ball in motion, this provides a pleasant sensation as well as health benefits.”

“And with regular use there is a chance to resolve incontinence as well as prevent it.”

Ema Lyon says that Fun Factory Smart Balls are one of D.VICE’s top sellers. “Women love the idea of the mix of sex and health benefits, it’s the perfect combination. Every woman should own a pair.”
